UNDER STOOD
Don't misunderstand me.
I misunderstand me.
I feel misunderstood, you get what I mean?
I try to taste what it would sound like if I touched on a whiff of what I
saw in what I thought I said...
It's all in your technique. However you want to get there. There's
something in the air if you can just grab it. Then keep it alive. But usually it
croaks in your hold. In the hole of your hand. It dies right there, goes brittle
and splits and spills into lots of little pieces, each of which was what you
thought you'd said, but instead... this. The glittering fragments of a mistake that
started out perfect, that lurked behind hope, holding out and holding on, that
tried to make it into the light but died, died as you brought it forward, died
before the doorstep. And meanwhile they're all outside, they're all there waiting,
thinking "This is IT, this will be something wonderful, this will be something
big, " but instead - here's the body, here's the crash, here's the breakage....
Please don't misunderstand me.
I've almost got it right.
